Teach-In on Global Migrations & Refugees: the US & Mid. East
Co-sponsored by Georgetown University, George Mason University, and the Arab Studies Institute
{{langos=='en'?('24/02/2018' | todate):('24/02/2018' | artodate)}} - issue 5.2

The current global policy environment surrounding migration and immigration reflects urgent humanitarian needs. At the same time, global responses are being shaped by resurgent exclusionist tendencies that also defined earlier migration policies in the twentieth century. This teach-in explores these facts of migration in the context of the Middle East and North Africa, from both a contemporary and historical perspective.

The meeting began with two opening presentations - Elizabeth Chacko, of the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University, followed by Rochelle Davis, Director of Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University.
