Samer Abboud is an Associate Professor of Global Interdisciplinary Studies at Villanova University. Prior to working at Villanova, he held the Franklyn and Evelyn ’42 Steinbrucker Endowed Chair (2015-2017) at Arcadia University. He is the author of the forthcoming book on the Syrian conflict entitled Syria (polity). Samer completed his doctorate at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University in Exeter in 2007 where he wrote a thesis entitled “The Political Economy of Marketization in Syria”. This research focused on the post-2000 market reforms and the multiple transitions and transformations embedded therein.
